Judy MacDonald

Judy E. MacDonald is the Director of the School of Social Work, Assistant Dean, Faculty of Health, Dalhousie University, where she has been a faculty member since 1999; having spent nine years prior at St. Thomas University. Judy identifies as a woman with a (dis)Ability, with a scholarship focus on access and inclusion for (dis)Abled students within post-secondary education. Her research methods have predominantly been qualitative, specifically narrative and autoethnography, along with quantitative survey methods.

Judy has held a number of positions related to diversity, including accommodation officer within her School; past co-chair of the Faculty of Health’s Affirmative Action Committee; and current committee member on the Implementation Committee for Diversity Initiatives and the Advisory Committee for Diversity at the University.

At a national level she is co-chair of the Canadian Association for Social Work Education (CASWE), Persons with Disability Caucus and a member on the Editorial Board of CASWE’s journal, the Canadian Social Work Review. Judy was its co-editor/Anglophone editor from 2013 to 2016.
