Marc-André Ethier

Marc-André Éthier was trained in history (Bachelor and Master’s Degree, Université de Montréal) and in didactics (Ph.D. in Didactics, Université de Montréal). He taught high-school history, was a professor at the University of Quebec at Trois-Rivières and, since 2004, is a professor at the Université de Montréal.

He is a member of a number of research groups including DiSEC (Diversité scolaire et l’éducation à la citoyenneté) and CRIFPE (Centre de recherche interuniversitaire sur la formation et la profession enseignante).

His research on the content analysis of history programs and textbooks has been funded by FRQSC and SSHRC. Lately, his research has focused teachers’ and students’ use of didactic tools such as manuals, novels, films, historical video games and artifacts and archives, as well as on how students learn in history, and in particular how they learn to do research in history.

Marc-André Éthier is the editor-in-chief of the Revue des sciences de l’éducation.
